The Philosophy of a Resume

There are some common misconceptions about what a resume should be.
  • A resume is not your life story or a comprehensive description of every project you worked on.
  • A resume is not a bland general document typed in 10 pt. Courier font.
Therefore, a resume should look professional, give a quick snapshot of who you are, and provide important detail when a manager is ready to drill down. It should be viewed as a marketing piece and is often the first and only chance to grab attention. A resume's key function is to create the initial interest necessary to get the interview.
